DIY

Do it your damned self!!!

Due to unfortunate subculture events the DIY standard has become almost extinct  (<- like this guy here)

That is why this site is here!

Please, do yourself and your subculture a favor and revive your roots.. if you don't know HOW to do something, then learn ( like, ask...)! there are too many stereotypes being accepted as fashion. and some that have been shunned because people care too much what others think, if you want to draw spiderwebs on your eyes, then do it.... anyways let me show you what diy can do, and who started it all...

What do you know how to do?

Do you know how to build a wall out of some concrete and old beer bolltes?

Do you know how to sew a skirt?

make a vegan pasta dish?

turn old shoes into a new flowerpot?

make that gunky ass old nail polish new again?

maybe make your own face powder?

I do.

The EASY stuff...nosew nopaint no build... just cut and serve.

Beauty tip:Fixing gunky nailpolish

If your nail polish is gunky, add a few drops of nail polish remover until you reach the desired consistancy. it doesn't matter what kind of remover you add just don't add too much, or it will be runny (in which case you can let it sit with the cap off for a while, an hour at a time).

Quick cuts: Making arm warmers

Although the easiest way to do this is cut the legs off of some tights or pantyhose, both of the base materials on those are pretty easy to tear and snag. when it comes to any project the best base materials with give the best results, and the shittiest, well, gets the shittiest. it's often better to sew up some rectanglar (slightly tapered)  pieces out of whatever material you want, but pantyhose is a viable option sure.

Duh!: Drawing on yer shit ver. 2.0

The boots

Drawing on your sneakers is an ART maaaaan! seriously now, when you're in 7th grade and drawing on your sneakers, it's a good sign that you're an artist at heart.

But you aren't in 7th grade anymore are you? and drawing on your sneakers is no longer stylish (if it ever was!) and personally, i don't even OWN sneakers! so what to do? Well you can still draw on your shoes! here's my idea: I've seen many a artists creating works on their white Doc martins. If you aren't lucky enough to be able to afford a new pair of white Doc martins (i know i'm not!) then you can just as easily create that canvas on a pair of your own with spray paint and  some good tape skills.

Need:

Boots (old docs/new white docs)

Spray paint (of your preferred color, but the lighter the better if you plan to draw on it!)

Painters/masking tape

Petroleum jelly (optional)

Paint markers (sharpee fades too fast)

Pencil ( to outline your drawing design before you make it permenant)

1! start off with with a clean surface and an open work area that is ventalated. you should use leather cleaner on your boots, unless they aren't leather, in which case, the paint might not stick :/ in this case however you can try other kinds of paint, i've used acrylic paint on my crappy platform MJ's with some sucess. Take out the laces!

2! Once you have a clean suface to your shoes take painters tape and carefully tape off the sides of the rubber sole and maybe cut out little circles to cover the eyelets, in  contrast you can also dab petroleum jelly on the eyelets  which will keep the paint from setting there if you dab it thick.

3! take them to a ventalated area and paint with two coats (no more than three, or the paint will peel) waiting for the paint to dry between coats.

4! Once the paint is dry you can do whatever the hell you want to the new solid surface! draw doodles, recreate an art piece you did a year ago, paste paper bits to it, whatever you want.

here's a few ideas:

-Add strips of fabric over the laces
-Write poetry down the side
-Paste pages of your favorite book across the toes (the novel is mightier than the steeltoe?)
